For many centuries, men and women have tried many different methods to protect their faces and stop the process of ageing. In the past, there were some methods that used, but unfortunately none of them became successful. Now, it is a different story. Currently there have been many discoveries that can be used to stop the effects of ageing. One of the most famous and most used one is Facelift.
the Facelift is rejuvenation surgery that goes beyond just tigthening skin. A modern facelift usually extends below the skin to address the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) by repositioning underlying facial muscles as well as reducing excess skin. A successful facelift will reduce, redistribute and add fat to the face. So, the skin will look healthier, younger and more beautiful. Besides many women, recently men are also prefer this technique.
A facelift is very detailed surgery. Because of the natural results we don’t realize whether a person has had a facelift surgery or not. A facelift begins with carefully placed incisions. Usually, they are made inside the hairline at the temple, extending down along the cureve of the ear, back behind the ear and horizontally into the hairline. Of course many patients are getting worry about the scars. So, it is important to keep incisions as short as possible. It is under the plastic surgeon’s responsibility to design your incision pattern and control skin tension. Before the surgery is, it is highly recommended that the person shouldn’t spend time outdoors, especially under the sun and should use sun-screen creams as much as possible.
A facelift is usually performed under general anesthesia, but sometimes local anesthesia can be preferred. They are performed by facial plastic surgeons and board-certified plastic surgeons. After the surgery, an overnight stay may be recommended to keep the patient.
Some people are afraid of getting a facelift as it is said to leave scars and cause extreme pain. This is not true. In fact it is a little possibility to have a scar if the doctor is trained, because it is important to place the incisions smaller so they don’t cause permanent scars. Another rumor about the surgery is to cause a lot of pain. You will feel numbness in the cheeks for several months after your facelift though this is not considered a complication. Risks of surgery include bleeding beneath the skin, temporary hair loss at the incision sites and thickening of scars. Asymmetry is possible, although most likely visible only to you. Severe asymmetry after a facelift is rare, as is nerve injury that leads to weakness of a portion of the face.
After the surgery, you will be given a special compression garment to wear. It has to be worn for a few days to support the initial healing. Getting your medications regularly will also make you feel better. Your face will feel tight and it will be difficult to open your mouth, so it might be better to have soft-food diet. In few weeks, you will be better and happy with your younger version. You should avoid sun , because complete healing will take some time. Even if it includes some difficulties like other surgeries, most people feel happier and younger with the Facelift technology.
